I am very particular about what I put on and in my body, as well as my family’s bodies….just ask my teenage daughter. She loves that I am an all natural girl {insert sarcastic tone here}. I have been on a journey to reduce my carbon footprint by creating beauty items and household cleaning items for years.
It began with me realizing that it just could not be healthy for me to feel like I was going to pass out each time I cleaned my shower. So, I began researching a natural, safer shower cleaner and actually came up with an all-purpose cleaner that took the place of about 4 cleaners! No more separate bottles of window cleaner, shower cleaner, countertop cleaner and toilet cleaner. In doing this, I reduced the number of ingredients I need to have on hand to make cleaning solution and the number of bottles I consume. Now I just reuse my glass spray bottle.
Next, I recognized just how many laundry detergent bottles I was recycling each month. I thought there had to be a better way. Why couldn’t I make my own and at least not consume the packaging anymore? And so I worked to develop a laundry detergent recipe that had ingredients I felt were safer and I also reuse my container.
Finally, I knew that I needed to be more conscientious about what I was putting onto my largest organ, my skin. So, I began researching the best beauty products to purchase, as well as recipes I could make and what was the smartest decision in each area for me.
The tabs in the section will give you information and recipes on different products, as well as ways to live more naturally that do not include any products at all!
